I originally made this blanket to go on Harper’s bed when we transitioned her out of her crib, but I’d be lying if I said that I haven’t wanted to claim it for myself. As a matter of fact, I’m snuggled under it right now.
Tip: make sure your stitches are tight or the yarn can “worm” loose, basically they look like the yarn snagged. I’d also recommend hand-washing this, rather than machine washing.
Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
Ch1 – chain one
Sk1Ch – skip one chain
Sp – space
Ch1Sp – chain one space
SlSt – slip stitch
Supplies:
Yarn Bee Velvety Smooth – 8 Blush, 4 Ivory
Hook size 9.00mm (N)
Tapestry Needle
Final Dimensions: 36″ x 48″
Pattern:
Base chain (blush): Chain 133 (or any even number)
Row 1: SC in the third chain from the hook and in each chain across. Chain 3 and turn.
Row 2: SC in the fourth chain from the hook. *Ch1. Sk1Ch. SC.* Repeat to the end of the row. Ch 3. Turn.
Row 3: SC in the Sp between the first two posts (this should be under the fourth chain from the hook). Ch1. SC in the next Ch1Sp. Continue repeating *SC in Ch1Sp, Ch1* (known as the moss stitch) to the end of the row. Ch 3. Turn.
Row 4: Repeat row 3. Change color on at the end of the row. Chain 3. Turn.
Rows 5-6 (white): Repeat row 3. Change color at the end of Row 6.
Rows 7-10 (blush): Repeat row 3.
Rows 11-82: Continue alternating four rows blush, two rows white, to 82 rows, ending in four rows of blush.
Weave in ends.
Border (Ivory)
Slip stitch in any corner and moss stitch across the row. Ch3 in each corner space. Moss stitch down the sides, spacing as evenly as possible so it lays flat. For me, it worked to SC on each post/turning chain down the side. When you get back to the the start of the border, SlSt into the first stitch. Cut off and weave in the ends.
